Meet the Author

Born during the last Month of the Sixties at the heart of Europe, I live in North America since the mid-'90s. I love listening to music, all sorts of music, and like exploring different styles and genres a year, going back and forth from one to another. During part of winter 2024-2025, I decided to take a second shot on an old dream: writing a song…

I am not an artist by trade, I work in a factory, but wanted to go to the end of this project; writing lyrics to a song and sharing it. It is a not a question of money, greed, or fame, it is simply a question of going all the way to the end of this dream with the resources available to me. The music I was listening to, when I decided to write this song, was local to the region I was in (Quebec, Canada).

Québec
One song in particular from Plume Latraverse caught my attention during some of my weekly solo walks in the gorgeous Quebec forests.

This song felt true, honest, and even though from the late 1980's still very moving and “à propos” today. Regarding this dream/project of mine, I want to thank Plume Latraverse, Stephen Faulkner, and their agent Nicole Boulais for having been such sports and allowing me to proceed with the song. From the bottom of my heart: MERCI (Thank You)!

Hopes and dreams!

I wish this song will move people and open a few eyes. But why would a song achieve what some scholars, scientists, officials,…, are trying to do for quite some time now in much more direct ways? I have truly no idea what to reply to this question, but I do know that I had to try, that I had to go to the end of this project (my very personal American Dream!).

I know some people might see all of this — myself included — as silly or even ridiculous. Honestly, that's fine, I'm completely at peace with that.

What is next?

Benjamin Franklin once said “Well done is better than well said”. Words matter, but actions certainly matter more, and if we all have one superpower, it is the ability to decide what kind of person we want to be, how we want to be remembered. The great thing about this superpower is that it is not only limitless, but also a source of personal satisfaction and well-being when applied toward the Common Good's objective.

Yes, I am a dreamer! Isn't the American Dream rooted in the Declaration of Independence's promise of liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness?

In this spirit, my next project will be to finalise an earlier song I wrote in 2018 about being a man and about mental health in general. Profound, and based on personal experience, this song helped me through some dark days. As I listen to it today, it still feels very relevant. If it can help others, be it just one person, I would deeply feel blessed.

Yours respectfully,

S. Springer
